RN – Baptist Emergency Hospital at Schertz
How long have you worked here?
I’ve been an employee at Emerus since October 2015.
Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I worked in the ICU for three years, most recently as a charge nurse. It was exciting and overwhelming at times, but always rewarding!
What is your proudest moment or experience treating our patients?
I recently cared for someone who spent 30 minutes letting me know how much he appreciated everyone at BEH Schertz, and that all employees and physicians were top of the line. It’s great being able to bond with patients and learn more about where they come from, and what we can do to make their stay comfortable and memorable.
What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
Sky diving, visit Italy to enjoy the wine and fresh Italian food, and ride elephants in Thailand.
What is your hidden talent, hobby or greatest interest outside of work?
I love cooking. I am a “gym rat” (and can out lift a number of men), and I love basketball.
What are your top 3 life highlights?
The birth of my twin boys, graduating nursing school and buying a car on my own.
What is your dream vacation?
Go to my mom’s home country, the Philippines, and visit the beautiful beaches. I’ve been there before, but never to the “tourist spots.”
If you could be anyone from any time period, who would it be and why?
Mark Zuckerberg, for obvious reasons! I’d retire early and travel the world.
Favorite national observance/why?
Easter, first and foremost, because I’m a Christian, but also because my family gets together for an Easter egg hunt with all the kids. My boys go crazy, and they get so happy when they find the eggs.
Favorite medicine-based movie or show/why?
“Nurse Jackie.” It’s really entertaining!
Complete this sentence about what your hospital brings to the community, or what you love about your hospital:
“My hospital…”
My hospital is different from any other hospital. The staff at Baptist Emergency Hospital cares for its patients, but also takes time to get to know its patients. Our staff cares about not only what brought you to the hospital, but what we can do for you even after your visit, and how we can make this the best experience possible.
